Christmas food shopping is always better with a little tasting involved. This December, Black Mountains Smokery is inviting visitors to its Crickhowell shop for a festive tasting day, with seasonal inspiration, award-winning smoked foods and a warm welcome.
A festive tasting day in Crickhowell
On Saturday 5 December 2026, the Black Mountains Smokery team will welcome visitors from 10am to 3pm with a glass of mulled wine or freshly brewed coffee and a chance to sample a selection of the smokery’s award-winning foods.
The tasting will include favourites such as oak smoked salmon, smoked duck and smoked chicken, with the team on hand to talk through flavours, pairings and serving suggestions. It is a practical way to plan a Christmas meat platter, choose a food hamper or find something special for a cheeseboard or festive table.
Festive food gifts for home or business
The day could also be useful for anyone looking for thoughtful corporate gifts: smoked-food hampers and carefully chosen local produce can make a distinctive thank-you for clients, colleagues or teams. The smokery’s own festive guidance also includes ideas for Christmas meat platters, hampers and cheeseboards.
If you are planning a larger order, the smokery advises visitors to order specific or bulk items in advance for shop collection, particularly at Christmas. Whole Christmas hams should be ordered by Monday 16 November, according to the organiser’s current festive information.
Make time for the shop
The shop will stay open until 5pm on the day, so there will be time to browse after the tastings have finished. Alongside the smokery’s own products, the shop stocks a range of local artisan accompaniments and festive food gifts.
