Wales Dark Sky Week returns to Bannau Brycheiniog

Wales Dark Sky Week returns to Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park in February 2026, celebrating one of Wales’ most remarkable natural assets — its internationally recognised dark skies.

Running from 13–22 February 2026, the week-long programme invites people to experience the night sky through a range of guided activities, including planetarium shows, night walks and astrophotography sessions. Events take place across the National Park and are designed to suit all levels of experience, from first-time stargazers to those keen to deepen their understanding of the night sky.

As an International Dark Sky Reserve, Bannau Brycheiniog offers some of the best stargazing conditions in the UK. Wales Dark Sky Week highlights why dark skies matter — for wildlife, wellbeing, cultural heritage and our connection to the natural world — while encouraging responsible, low-impact enjoyment of the landscape after dark.

The week also provides an opportunity for visitors to plan longer stays, explore the area outside daylight hours and support local businesses offering dark sky-friendly accommodation and experiences.

Further details about individual events and booking information will be released via the official Wales Dark Sky Week pages. Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, as many activities have limited availability.
