Tourism businesses and partners from across Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park will come together this week for the Tourism in Bannau Brycheiniog Summit – A Shared Future, bringing together destination leaders, industry experts and local businesses for a focused half-day of insight and discussion.
Taking place at The Angel Hotel in Abergavenny on Thursday 26 March, the Summit aims to strengthen understanding of current tourism trends, future opportunities and the importance of collaboration across the visitor economy.
The event brings together speakers from national organisations, destination bodies and industry platforms, creating an opportunity for businesses to hear directly from those shaping tourism policy, marketing and development.
The programme includes contributions from:
Catherine Mealing-Jones, Chief Executive of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority, who will share insight into destination priorities and the role of tourism within the National Park’s future vision.
Steve Hughson, Chair of the Mid Wales Tourism Forum, who will provide a wider perspective on tourism trends and sector challenges across Wales.
Rhidian Jones, Head of Tourism Development at Visit Wales, alongside Ffion James, National Development Manager at Beicio Cymru, who will explore future opportunities for tourism businesses including cycling and active travel.
Ed Maughan, Director of GroupAccommodation.com, who will share insight into booking trends and digital opportunities for accommodation providers.
Dafydd Wyn Morgan, founder of Serydda, who will highlight the growing importance of astro-tourism and experiential visitor offers.
Alan Bowring, Geopark Officer at Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority, who will explore how landscape, heritage and sense of place continue to shape the destination experience.
The day will also include a facilitated discussion session chaired by Steve Hughson, encouraging open dialogue between businesses and sector partners.
Bringing the visitor economy together
The Summit is open not only to tourism businesses but also to the wider network of organisations supporting the visitor economy, including local authorities, destination partners and community organisations.
Julie Bell, Director of Brecon Beacons Tourism, said:
“Tourism works best when we work together. This Summit is about bringing businesses and partners into the same room to better understand the challenges and opportunities ahead, and to strengthen the relationships that support our visitor economy.”
