BBT member The Angel Inn at Pontneddfechan has been selected for CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide 2027 for the first time. The recognition reflects the pub’s focus on well-kept real ale, a carefully managed cellar and the work of its independent, family-run team.

A welcome recognition for a local pub

The Good Beer Guide is not an award that businesses can enter themselves for or secure through online voting. Pubs are selected by local CAMRA members, with the quality and consistency of the real ale playing an important part in the process.

For The Angel Inn, inclusion in the 2027 guide is recognition of the care taken behind the bar and in the cellar, as well as the commitment of the team who serve the pub’s range of ales.

The Angel has thanked Dan and the wider team for looking after the cellar and bar, alongside the breweries whose beers are served and the customers who continue to support the pub.

For a small, independent country pub, being included in the Good Beer Guide is a significant achievement. It is particularly welcome during a challenging time for independent pubs and provides an opportunity to celebrate the importance of well-run local places where people can meet, enjoy good beer and spend time together.

The announcement comes during National Cask Ale Week, which will conclude at The Angel Inn with live music from Woolfey — Mark Woolfe — from 6pm on Sunday.
