The Talgarth Walking Festival returns from Friday 1 to Monday 4 May 2026, bringing a long weekend of guided walks, shared stories and fresh perspectives on Talgarth and the surrounding Black Mountains.
Timed perfectly for the May Spring Bank Holiday, the festival invites walkers of all abilities to explore one of the most characterful corners of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) — from riverside paths and rolling farmland to higher, open mountain routes with far-reaching views.
Talgarth has long been known as a hub for walking and outdoor activity, and the festival reflects that spirit. The 2026 programme features a wide choice of led walks across the four days, designed to suit different interests, paces and experience levels — whether you’re looking for a gentle local wander or a more challenging day out on the hills.
Walks are led by knowledgeable guides who bring the landscape to life, sharing insights into local history, wildlife, culture and the changing seasons.
With visitors arriving for several days, the festival naturally supports longer stays in the area. Talgarth and the surrounding villages offer a strong mix of independent places to eat, drink and stay, making it easy to turn a walk into a full Spring Bank Holiday break.
It’s also an ideal base for exploring nearby towns, market villages and lesser-known corners of the National Park — all without the need to travel far.
Tickets are now on sale, and popular walks are expected to fill quickly.
