A Talgarth-based artisan producer in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park has been recognised on the global stage, with Black Mountains Preserves winning three awards at the 2026 World Marmalade Awards at Dalemain. From just three entries, the small independent business secured two Gold Awards and one Silver, highlighting the quality of locally made produce from the foothills of the Black Mountains.
Held annually at Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens, the awards attracted over 3,400 entries from more than 30 countries worldwide, including Japan, Greece, South Africa and Taiwan. Winners were presented by Shirley Fawcett, High Sheriff of Cumbria. The award ceremony and Marmalade Festival took place in Dalemain this weekend, with small artisan producers as well as homemade winners being celebrated. Even Paddington Bear made an appearance and enjoyed being surrounded by so much award winning marmalade!
Judges praised the Seville marmalade as “an outstanding marmalade”, awarding it a perfect score.
Beatrice Hasell-McCosh, Director of the Awards, said:
“I know that Helen will have huge success with her marmalades, which were rightly recognised as exceptional. It is the second time her Moroccan marmalade has won Artisan Gold at these global awards — a remarkable achievement.”
All Gold award-winning marmalades will be stocked in the World Marmalade Shop at Dalemain throughout the year.
Helen Dunne said:
“It is incredibly exciting to win three awards from three entries and to be recognised among such strong international competition. We’ve been making marmalades since 2020, and it was a joy to celebrate alongside fellow artisan producers.”
Black Mountains Preserves products are available through local stockists and online. Alongside its award-winning marmalades, the business is launching a seasonal spring and summer range, including a bright Rhubarb & Ginger Preserve, a Mediterranean-inspired relish and an aromatic Garlic Relish.
