Live blues returns to Brecon this winter with a standout gig already shaping up to be one of the musical highlights of the year. Stompin’ Dave Electric Duo, featuring Lucy Piper, will perform at The Brecon Tap on Thursday 5 February 2026.
Presented by the Mid Wales R&B Club, this free-entry show brings one of the UK’s most electrifying live performers to Brecon for the very first time. Known for his explosive energy, distinctive guitar style and commanding stage presence, Stompin’ Dave has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting figures on the contemporary blues scene.
Based in Bridport, Dorset, Dave was nominated for a UK Blues Award in 2024 and has performed at major festivals including Glastonbury, Camp Bestival and Bestival. Critics regularly describe his work as modern, relevant and rooted in the traditions of American roots music — blues that belongs on today’s stages, not in a museum.
Joining him on drums is Lucy Piper, widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading blues drummers. Daughter of the late Julian Piper — a highly respected authority on blues music — Lucy has toured internationally, worked with Ruf Records’ Blues Caravan and appeared on multiple award-nominated recordings. Since 2022, she and Dave have built a formidable live partnership, appearing at festivals across the UK including Wilderness, Upton Blues Festival and The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival.
