Llandovery Farmers Market became the first market in Wales accredited under the Real Farmers Market scheme, recognising a direct connection between producers, provenance and the people buying their food.

The scheme's three core principles are:

• Championing farmers — customers buy directly from producers.
• Proud of provenance — food is traceable from field to fork.
• Prioritising local — stallholders are drawn from the surrounding area.

Held in Llandovery Market Square, the market brings together produce such as pasture-fed meat, honey, vegetables, cheese, beer, preserves, baking, foraged ingredients and plants. The accreditation helps visitors understand that the people behind the stalls are closely connected with what they grow, rear or make.

The recognition formed part of the Farm Retail Association's More Than Food campaign, which celebrates traceable produce and the stories behind it.
