Brecon Jazz Festival 2026 has revealed an exciting programme for its Guildhall Stage, bringing together contemporary jazz, jazz-funk fusion and internationally recognised performers for four days of live music this August.
Running from 6th–9th August 2026 at The Guildhall in Brecon, the programme showcases a wide range of modern jazz talent, from immersive experimental compositions to energetic live fusion performances.
Among the artists announced is the Ursula Harrison Quartet, presenting Songs About Birds — an atmospheric suite inspired by birdsong, poetry and contemporary classical composition. The performance draws influence from the mathematical and sonic techniques of composers including Iannis Xenakis and Witold Lutosławski, creating a deeply immersive live experience.
Also appearing are Phoenician Blinds, a contemporary jazz quintet that has toured extensively across the UK and Europe since 2015. Known for combining groove-driven jazz with modern production influences, the group has gained significant streaming success and will be bringing new material to Brecon ahead of an upcoming album release.
Trumpeter Olivia Cuttill returns to the festival with her acclaimed quintet following the success of her recent albums and performances at major venues including Ronnie Scott’s, South Bank Centre and the Howard Assembly Room. Her appearance continues the festival’s strong reputation for championing emerging and established UK jazz talent.
The programme also includes Beyond Armstrong from Jon Crespo — a tribute exploring the influence of Louis Armstrong on generations of jazz trumpet players, from Miles Davis to Woody Shaw — alongside high-energy jazz-funk fusion from Trunk of Funk, whose members have performed with artists including Portishead, Goldfrapp and the James Taylor Quartet.
Set within one of Brecon’s most recognisable historic venues, the Guildhall Stage remains a key part of the wider festival atmosphere each year, combining intimate live performances with the unique character of the town during festival weekend.
Brecon Jazz Festival 2026 takes place from 6th–9th August across venues in and around Brecon, with further announcements and performances continuing to be released.
