From our Members: Book-ish Café starts a new chapter

By j.bell on 13/01/2026

From Tuesday 20 January, Book-ish Café in Crickhowell is turning the page on a thoughtful new chapter – reshaping its café space to focus on quality, community and a more intimate dining experience.

The café’s seating will now be based entirely downstairs, bringing the kitchen closer to the heart of the space and allowing the team to concentrate on what they do best: carefully prepared food, excellent coffee and warm, unhurried hospitality.

In a complementary move, The Loft at Book-ish will become a dedicated space for community groups, Book-ish events and people working remotely, offering a calm, welcoming environment that supports connection as well as concentration.

Alongside the spatial changes, Book-ish Café is introducing a refined brunch-led menu, served Tuesday to Saturday, 9am–3pm, featuring freshly cooked dishes that celebrate local produce and honest flavours – from smoky beans and chorizo hash to Turkish eggs and classic sourdough plates.

The kitchen will now close on Sundays and Mondays to allow time for rest and preparation, ensuring that every service from Tuesday onwards delivers the same high standard the café is known for. Drinks, cakes and pastries will continue to be served seven days a week, keeping Book-ish a natural place to pause, meet and linger.

This new structure reflects a clear intention: fewer distractions, more focus, and a café experience shaped by care, craft and community – right in the heart of Crickhowell.
