The Swimming Detective aka Karen Davies has always been drawn to water. Rivers,

Lakes, Ponds, Pools, Oceans. It is a passion that over the last few years has taken on much

greater meaning as she has turned her efforts to the greater good through endless fundrais-

ing. During training as part of the Team Velindre Great Escape from Alcatraz swim in May

2025 she came to understand exactly what such fundraising meant to patients and their

families affected by Cancer. In a recent twist of fate and irony the journey became deeply

personal and even more relevant. Beth Ingram-Holden Head of Nursing for Systematic

Therapies at Velindre Cancer Care will be joining Karen for this event.
