Peregrine Circus Returns to Brecon with Immersive New Production Belly of the Whale

From 16–19 July, visitors and local audiences will have the opportunity to step inside a world where contemporary circus, live music and immersive storytelling come together as Peregrine Circus returns to Brecon with its latest production, Belly of the Whale.

Performed beneath the company's distinctive big top, this original production invites audiences of all ages on a journey into an imagined oceanic world where myth, music and breathtaking circus performance combine to create an experience unlike a traditional theatre show.

Founded in North Wales, Peregrine Circus has earned a growing reputation for creating performances that blur the boundaries between circus, theatre and live music. Their productions are intimate, imaginative and designed to draw audiences into the story rather than simply asking them to watch from the sidelines. As the company expands its tour across Wales, Brecon once again becomes one of only a handful of places to experience this unique style of live performance.

An unforgettable summer experience

Belly of the Whale explores stories carried beneath the waves, where forgotten tales, haunting music and extraordinary physical performance come together beneath the canvas of the circus tent.

Rather than relying on spectacle alone, Peregrine Circus creates performances that are both visually striking and emotionally engaging, making the show just as appealing to adults as it is to families with older children and young people looking for something different.

Each performance is a one-off shared experience, bringing together international performers, musicians and visual artists in an intimate setting where every audience member feels part of the story.

Make a day of it in Brecon

A visit to Peregrine Circus is the perfect reason to spend more time exploring Brecon and the surrounding Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.

Before or after the performance, enjoy independent cafés, restaurants and shops in the town centre, stroll along the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal or extend your stay to discover walking trails, heritage attractions and some of Wales' most spectacular landscapes.

It's an experience that combines outstanding live performance with everything that makes Brecon a memorable place to visit.
