Mynydd Illtyd – FREE Social Walk for Beginners, Mindful Walkers and 50+ | Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog)

17 Feb 2026
Location: Mynydd Illtyd
Address: Mynydd Illtyd lay-by on the common,

Join an easy, scenic guided walk on Mynydd Illtyd Common in the beautiful Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) led by an experienced Hill & Moorland Leader based near Brecon. This relaxed walk is perfect for beginners, mindful walkers, people aged 50+, and anyone who prefers gentle terrain and time to enjoy the views rather than a fast pace. The route follows small paths across quiet parts of the common with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including distant peaks and sweeping valleys.

You’ll experience a supportive, social atmosphere where everyone is welcome and encouraged throughout. The walk isn’t physically demanding, with very gentle slopes and no steep climbs, but occasional uneven or muddy ground means hiking boots or sturdy shoes, waterproofs, and layers are recommended.

Participants can enjoy time outdoors connecting with nature, taking photos, and soaking up the landscape. Dogs on leads are also welcome. If you’re travelling by bus (T4 Brecon–Merthyr Tydfil), a pick-up from the Libanus stop can be arranged. The walk starts and finishes at a lay-by on the common, with optional visits to nearby cafes or pubs before or after.
