Join professional leader Sarah Price for a refreshing 4.5-mile circular, walk exploring the beautiful village of Llangattock, one of the Brecon Beacon's hidden gems.
Sitting peacefully on the banks of the River Usk opposite Crickhowell, Llangattock is steeped in history — even older than its famous neighbour — with an ancient church and timeless village charm. We’ll begin our route by visiting the historic Llangattock church, before joining the tranquil Brecon to Monmouth canal. From there, we’ll follow quiet country lanes, woodland paths, and field tracks, enjoying ever-changing views as we climb to around 220 metres. Although the route has some steep bits, they are intersperse with flat sections, and we will take as long as we need to walk the uphills! From this height, we’re rewarded with stunning panoramas of the surrounding mountains and the Usk Valley. Our walk also includes a short section of the Usk Valley Walk, a long-distance route that follows the river’s journey through some of Wales’ finest countryside. A long the way, we’ll take time to stop for packed lunches with a view — a perfect chance to relax, chat, and take in the early spring scenery.
