Set in the cultural heart of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, the Hay Music Festival returns from 12–14 September 2025, bringing a rich programme of concerts, talks and artistic events to Hay-on-Wye. This much-loved festival combines world-class music with film, discussion and exhibitions, creating a weekend full of inspiration and discovery.
Programme highlights include:
🎶 Friday 12 September – Film The Kite Runner, talk by composer Charlotte Bray and artist Caroline Burraway, and a concert by the Fitzwilliam String Quartet with works by Purcell, Bray, Schubert and Delius.
🎶 Saturday 13 September – Coffee concert by Sinfonia Cymru (Seavaigers by Sally Beamish), discussion Exiles & Emigres with Peter Florence, soprano Alysia Henshaw and pianist Jay Carroll in concert, plus evening jazz in Hay Castle with the McQuaid Quintet.
🎶 Sunday 14 September – Talk on the making of Kesulat (Fields of War), film screening, and concert with the Fitzwilliam String Quartet and pianist Sarah Nicolls performing works by Glazunov, Weinberg, Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich.
Alongside the main programme there will be an exhibition in Hay Castle of Ungrieavable Lives by Caroline Burraway, plus outreach events for local schools, vulnerable adults and children.
