The Blaenau Gwent Heritage Forum invites you to a full day of talks, displays and activities celebrating the rich history of southeast Wales and the wider Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) region.
What to expect
The programme brings together local historians, researchers and experts covering themes of transport, industry and family history, including:
Droving traditions with Mark Davis
Monmouthshire, Abergavenny and Brecon Canals with Jayne Collier
The Tramroads Project – mapping historic tram-road sites in the Brecon Beacons with Roy Manning
Overtaken by Steam – George Overton and the Railway with Stephen K Jones
The Rolls Family of Monmouth with Roger James
Displays will also feature from Ebbw Vale Works Museum, Gwent Archives, Community Archives Collective, and Gilbern Cars – plus an exhibition of Michael Blackmore’s artwork depicting the industrial past. Books, CDs and gifts will be available to buy at the BGHF shop, alongside a raffle to close the day.
Catering is provided by Carl’s Catering, with a wide selection of sandwiches, savouries, cakes and refreshments.
