Brecon welcomes two extraordinary exhibitions this July, offering a heartfelt and historically rich tribute to Britain at war—told entirely through hand-crafted knitting and crochet.

Step into the wartime years with 41 detailed, life-sized tableaux made entirely by hand. From the Blitz to VE Day, this is Britain’s story told through yarn—celebrating courage, community and creativity.

The Royal Welsh Museum, LD3 7EA

22–31 July | 10:00–17:00

Explore an inspiring companion exhibition capturing the spirit of the Home Front and wartime life in wool. Hosted in one of Wales’ most significant military museums.

Free entry – donations welcome

Both exhibitions are part of a national touring project honouring WW2 veterans, supported by historians and powered by volunteers. A unique way to experience living history through community-made art.
