Celtic Roots Festival returns to the Crickhowell area from 17 October to 1 November, bringing together music, poetry, talks, pilgrimage walks, children’s activities and opportunities to explore the area’s rich Celtic heritage.
Organised around the St Catwg ministry area, the festival explores the history, traditions and Christian heritage of the Celtic communities of Wales, with events taking place in churches and communities around Crickhowell.
The programme begins with a pilgrimage walk from Llangenny via Patricio and Llanbedr on Saturday 17 October, followed by the festival launch service at St Edmund’s Church in Crickhowell on Sunday 18 October.
Over the following two weeks, the programme includes further pilgrimage walks, cultural talks, music, poetry and family activities. Highlights include a Korean choir concert at St Edmund’s Church, a Crickhowell Choral Society performance at Clarence Hall, a talk on the history of painting in Llangattock and a closing concert featuring works for triple harp.
The festival will finish with All Saints celebration services in churches across the ministry area on Sunday 1 November.
Celtic Roots Festival offers a chance to discover more about the cultural and spiritual heritage of this part of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), while enjoying a varied programme of events in some of the area’s historic churches and communities.
