A compact kitchenette, wood-burning stove, handcrafted interior and covered mountain-view balcony show how Cabán Tarren makes off-grid stays comfortable for two.
Ty'r Philip Evan Farm is a 26-acre working farm of hay meadows and ancient woodland above Llangattock, near Crickhowell. It is home to Cabán Tarren, a handcrafted off-grid cabin for two, and a programme of small woodworking workshops led by owner and maker Tanya.
The cabin sits high on the hillside with wide views across the Usk Valley and surrounding mountains. Inside are a king-size bed, simple kitchen, private shower room and WC and a wood burner; outside are an enclosed garden, terrace, sheltered cooking space, fire pit and private parking.
Cabán Tarren was handcrafted using reclaimed and upcycled materials, with environmental responsibility at the centre of the build. The off-grid setting encourages slow mornings, outdoor cooking and quiet evenings beneath the stars.
The restored workshop barn hosts hands-on woodworking experiences for different skill levels. Visitors can book a workshop separately or ask about combining making time with a stay at Cabán Tarren; current projects, durations, prices and enquiry routes are kept on the farm's website.
The owner's site links to the live cabin availability and booking calendar and provides direct contact for workshops and tailored stays. Visitors should use those current details for prices, minimum stays, access, equipment and availability.
