Meet the horses, centre and mountain trails behind a day with Tregoyd Mountain Riders.
Tregoyd Mountain Riders offers guided pony trekking, horse riding and hacking from Pantygollen Barn at Felindre, near Three Cocks. With direct access to the Black Mountains, riders can leave the yard for open commons, lower hillsides, woodland and forestry with very little roadwork.
Routes range from relaxed pony treks for beginners to longer rides and faster hacks for people with suitable experience. Half-day and full-day options are available, with qualified staff guiding the group and adapting the route to ability and conditions where possible.
The team needs to discuss every rider's age, height, weight, experience and confidence before confirming a ride. Minimum ages and a 14-stone rider-weight limit apply. Riding hats are supplied, and visitors receive a safety briefing, demonstration and introductory instruction before setting out.
The main riding season runs from spring to autumn, with some winter rides possible and every outing dependent on weather and ground conditions. Advance arrangement by telephone or email is essential. Car parking is available at the yard, and exact directions are provided from Three Cocks through Felindre.
