Meadow camping, nature-based gatherings and the restored Hayloft give visitors different ways to slow down and reconnect at Cwmffrwd Farm.
Wild of the Words offers self-catering accommodation, low-impact meadow camping and nature-based events at Cwmffrwd Farm, a 22-acre farm between Cwmdu and Pen-gennffordd in the Black Mountains.
Surrounded by wildflower meadows and views across the Rhiangoll Valley, the farm provides a peaceful base for exploring Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. Hosts Pridie and James are developing Cwmffrwd with a focus on nature, regeneration and experiences that help people spend meaningful time outdoors.
Y Llofft Wair | The Hayloft is a restored 17th-century Welsh crog loft offering year-round self-catering accommodation for up to six people. The property combines original character with a well-equipped kitchen, wood-burning fire, bathroom with roll-top bath and shower, Wi-Fi and a private outdoor area. Dogs are welcome, subject to the farm’s responsible access arrangements.
From May to September, the farm offers spacious meadow camping for tents and small campervans. With only a small number of pitches across each four-acre field, visitors have room to settle into the surroundings. Furnished bell tents are also available, alongside hot showers, toilets, washing-up facilities and firepits.
The Wild of the Words runs a seasonal programme inspired by nature, folklore, storytelling and outdoor skills. The farm can also host private workshops, team days, celebrations and group gatherings. Available event spaces include an outdoor fire circle, an 18-foot tipi and a covered parachute area. Accommodation, camping and exclusive-use options allow groups to extend an event into a longer stay.
Whether visiting for a quiet break, a night beneath the stars or a shared experience, Cwmffrwd Farm offers several ways to enjoy the landscape and character of the Black Mountains.
