Hay Markets brings independent traders, local producers and a long market tradition into the streets and covered spaces of Hay-on-Wye. Visitors can shop for fresh food, Welsh produce, street food, coffee, plants, handmade work, gifts, vintage pieces and collectables while spending time in the Town of Books.
Hay's main market runs every Thursday throughout the year, normally from 9am to 2.30pm. Around forty traders use the square, surrounding streets, Buttermarket and Clock Tower area, with produce, meat, fish, cheese, bread, takeaway food, makers and a flea market forming part of the changing weekly mix.
First-Saturday markets normally run from April to October, focusing on speciality food, artisan makers, local producers and vintage resellers. Hay Markets also organises selected festive markets. Visitors should check the published market days before travelling because annual dates and special arrangements can change.
