Brecon Bunkhouse provides simple, spacious group accommodation for up to 28 guests at Pengenffordd, near Talgarth in the Black Mountains. Walking and outdoor routes can be reached from the door, making it a practical base for hiking, cycling, gliding, wild-swimming groups, school and youth trips, and family gatherings.
Six bedrooms have adult-sized bunk beds, with rooms ranging from two bunks to a ten-person dormitory. Groups have a fully equipped catering kitchen, separate dining room, large lounge with a wood-burning stove, boot room and storage and cleaning space for bikes or canoes. The bunkhouse is intentionally basic, more like a clean and well-equipped camping barn than a holiday cottage, and guests need to bring their own bedding.
Exclusive-use weekend and weekday stays are available. Smaller groups of at least ten people can book per person when dates allow. Up to two dogs are welcome downstairs by prior arrangement and subject to the current charge. Parking is available on the working farm, but groups bringing several vehicles should ask for arrival and parking guidance when booking.
The hidden-valley location gives direct access to walking and mountain-biking country, with Talgarth, Brecon, Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye within reach. A local pub is also within walking distance; visitors should bring a torch for the return route after dark.
