Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority has announced the appointment of Owen Derbyshire as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Owen will take up the role in January 2027, joining the Authority from Keep Wales Tidy, where he has served as Chief Executive since October 2022.

He brings considerable leadership experience from organisations across Wales. Before joining Keep Wales Tidy, Owen was Director of Marketing and Digital at S4C. He has also held board-level roles with organisations including S4C, Shelter Cymru and Mudiad Meithrin.

Gareth Ratcliffe, Chair of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Owen as our next Chief Executive. He brings strong leadership experience across Wales and a clear understanding of the environmental, cultural and community context in which we work.

“We look forward to working with him as we continue to care for this special place and support the people and communities connected to it.”

The appointment follows an extensive recruitment campaign carried out by GatenbySanderson and a highly competitive selection process involving a strong field of candidates.

Preparations are now underway to support a smooth transition before Owen joins the Authority in January.
