Talgarth Mill is inviting visitors and locals alike to enjoy an inspiring afternoon of conversation, walking and food this spring, as A Taste of Talgarth comes to the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park on Sunday 3 May 2026.
Hosted by broadcaster and food campaigner Kate Humble, the event brings together ideas, exploration and a shared love of local produce, while raising vital funds to support the ongoing maintenance of this important community-run heritage mill.
An afternoon of ideas and conversation
The afternoon begins at 2pm with Kate Humble in conversation with writer Ben Rawlence, exploring the question:
Can we grow more locally?
This timely discussion will explore local food systems, resilience and how communities can strengthen connections between growers, producers and consumers — an increasingly important conversation across rural destinations like Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons).
Explore Talgarth on foot
At 3:30pm, visitors can join Kate for a relaxed three-mile walk around Talgarth, offering a chance to explore the surrounding landscape, connect with others attending and experience the scenery that makes this part of the National Park so special.
Throughout the afternoon there will also be free family activities, including children’s trails and crafts, making this a welcoming and accessible event for all ages.
Food, community and fundraising
From 5:30pm, the Mill and its gardens will host a community feast celebrating local food and shared experiences.
The evening will also feature a charity auction at 7pm, helping raise essential funds towards the upkeep and future sustainability of Talgarth Mill.
