Brecon Barracks will host a major heritage celebration this spring as A King’s Legacy: 1879 Remembered brings history, culture and community together on Saturday 28 March 2026. This full-day event marks a unique moment in Brecon’s calendar, honouring the enduring legacy of the Zulu story and the 24th Regiment of Foot — the regiment whose history is deeply rooted here in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons).
Families, history enthusiasts and visitors are invited to explore a packed programme from 10am–4pm, all curated to bring 1879 to life through live entertainment, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
