The Felin Fach Griffin has been included at number 32 in The Good Food Guide’s 100 Best Pubs for 2026, in partnership with Timothy Taylor’s Landlord.
The Felin Fach Griffin is one of two EATDRINKSLEEP dining pubs with rooms included in this year’s list. Its sister inn, The Gurnard’s Head in West Penwith, is ranked at number 74. The list was revealed at a ceremony at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on Monday 2 November.
A national listing with a local story
Run by EATDRINKSLEEP since 2000, The Felin Fach Griffin sits between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye, at the foot of the Black Mountains and close to Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. It has built its reputation as a dining pub with rooms: a place where an open fire, comfortable bedrooms, thoughtful cooking and a warm bar make it easy to slow down.
Originally from Carmarthenshire, Head Chef Gwenann Davies has led the kitchen at The Griffin since 2023. The team’s cooking reflects the Welsh larder and the landscape around the inn, with produce carefully sourced and served in food that is refined without losing its sense of place.
“We couldn’t be happier to be included in this list with a pile of other superb pubs that do excellent food. There may be fewer pubs across the country, but many of those that remain are operating at a level that is so much higher than it was.”
— Charles Inkin, EATDRINKSLEEP
Two inns, one EATDRINKSLEEP connection
The two listings also reflect the connection many guests already make between EATDRINKSLEEP’s inns. The Felin Fach Griffin and The Gurnard’s Head are different places in different landscapes, but both combine thoughtful food, relaxed hospitality and a strong sense of place. Guests who know one often make a point of visiting the other, whether for a meal, a stay or a seasonal event.
