Three colourful huts, cosy interiors and immediate access to the countryside show the simple glamping experience at Shepherds Retreat near Llangorse.
Stay on a traditional working farm near Llangorse village and Llangorse Lake at Shepherds Retreat Wales. Three well-insulated huts look across open farmland towards Mynydd Troed, giving couples and friends a simple rural base between the Black Mountains and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons).
Choose from two traditional shepherd's huts, Brown Hare and Sweet Briar, or the colourful gypsy-style caravan hut, Tilly. Each sleeps two in a double bed and has a wood-burning stove, seating, storage and solar-powered lighting. The huts can be booked separately or together for a group of up to six.
A shared kitchen lodge provides cooking equipment, a fridge, sink, tables and chairs, while the adjoining shower lodge has a hot-water shower, toilet and basin. Bedding and towels are supplied. Outside each hut you will find seating, a table and a firepit or barbecue for unhurried evenings and stargazing.
The village and lake are about a mile away, with walking, watersports and wildlife nearby. Guests can also arrange riding with the family-run Ellesmere Riding Centre. Stays are available throughout the year with a minimum of two nights; check current dates directly before travelling.
