The first Llandovery Creative Workshops Weekend, held on 25–26 July 2026, has been hailed a resounding success after visitors and local residents embraced a weekend of creativity, learning and community spirit.
More than a dozen workshops took place across four venues throughout the town, showcasing the wealth of creative talent in Llandovery. Local artists, makers and craftspeople welcomed participants to hands-on sessions, giving them the opportunity to learn new skills, meet the people behind the crafts and create something of their own.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the friendly atmosphere, the quality of the workshops and the opportunity to learn directly from local creatives.
Workshop hosts also enjoyed meeting new people, sharing their skills and passing on traditional and contemporary creative knowledge.
There was a real buzz around Llandovery throughout the weekend, with visitors exploring the town between workshops, visiting independent shops and making the most of special offers from local cafés, pubs and accommodation providers.
The event not only celebrated creativity but also highlighted the warmth, hospitality and talent that make Llandovery such a special place to visit.
Karen Kirkby, of The New White Lion, who helped coordinate the weekend, said:
“From the very beginning we wanted this weekend to celebrate the incredible creative talent we have here in Llandovery while encouraging people to spend time in our beautiful town.
“Seeing workshop hosts inspiring others, visitors travelling between venues and the whole town buzzing with creativity was everything we’d hoped for. The feedback has been fantastic and we’re already excited about what next year could bring.”
Linzi Brown, owner of Bumblebees of Llandovery, hosted free machine embroidery workshops and also helped coordinate the weekend. She said:
“One of the best parts of the weekend was seeing people have the confidence to try something completely new.
“It was wonderful to meet so many lovely people, share a skill that I’m passionate about and watch everyone leave with smiles on their faces and something they’d created themselves. Creativity has a wonderful way of bringing people together, and that was exactly what this weekend was about.”
Amanda Rose, who led the pottery workshops, said:
“It was such a pleasure to introduce people to pottery, many of whom had never worked with clay before.
“Watching participants discover what they could create and seeing their enthusiasm grow throughout the workshop was incredibly rewarding. It was a fantastic weekend to be part of and a real celebration of creativity in our community.”
Organisers have thanked every workshop host, participant, venue and local business who helped make the weekend such a memorable occasion.
Their enthusiasm, generosity and support created an event that exceeded expectations and demonstrated the strength of Llandovery’s creative community.
Following the success of this inaugural event, organisers are already looking ahead to next year, with hopes that the Llandovery Creative Workshops Weekend will become an annual fixture in the town’s calendar.
