Brecon Baroque Festival Returns – A Weekend of World-Class Music and Conversation

By j.bell on 14/10/2025

The Brecon Baroque Festival returns this October, bringing an extraordinary celebration of period music to venues across Brecon — from the grandeur of Brecon Cathedral to the intimate settings of The Tithe Barn and Theatr Brycheiniog.

Founded in 2006 by internationally acclaimed violinist Rachel Podger, the festival has become one of the UK’s leading showcases for baroque music. Each October, Rachel gathers some of the world’s finest period musicians for a long weekend of concerts, workshops, walks and talks, creating an experience that is both inspiring and immersive.

A Celebration of Music, Words and Community

This year’s festival combines world-class performance with thoughtful discussion and a celebration of Welsh creativity. Brecon Cathedral, Theatr Brycheiniog, and The Hours Café & Bookshop all play key roles in welcoming audiences to this much-loved event, reflecting the strong spirit of collaboration within Brecon’s cultural scene.

The Hours Café & Bookshop, located next to the Tithe Barn, will be a natural meeting place across the weekend — ideal for coffee, conversation, and book browsing between talks and performances.

Now in its nineteenth year, the Brecon Baroque Festival continues to unite musicians, writers and audiences in a shared celebration of music and place, keeping Brecon firmly on the cultural map of Wales.

Tickets and full programme details are available at www.breconbaroquefestival.com and through Theatr Brycheiniog’s box office.
