Copper stills, a working production floor, guided tasting spaces and a well-stocked shop turn a Penderyn tour into the complete Welsh whisky story.
Discover Welsh whisky through guided tours, tastings and masterclasses at Penderyn Distillery in the village of Penderyn, near the southern edge of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.
Established in 2000, Penderyn was Wales' first whisky distillery for more than a century. Today it produces award-winning single malt Welsh whisky alongside other spirits and welcomes visitors to its original working distillery.
Hour-long guided tours introduce the Penderyn story and take visitors behind the scenes to see the mill, mash tun and distinctive copper stills used during production. The experience concludes in the tasting bar, where adult visitors can sample selected Penderyn products.
Visitors who would like to go further can book a whisky masterclass or the Friday Single Cask Tour. Private tours, masterclasses and meeting-room hire for groups and events are also available. The distillery shop sells Penderyn whiskies, spirits, gifts and selected releases.
Advance booking is strongly recommended because tour capacity is limited and entry cannot always be guaranteed on arrival. Children may visit the distillery, but those under 14 cannot enter the production area and visitors under 18 do not receive alcoholic tastings.
The production area at Penderyn's Brecon Beacons site is not currently wheelchair accessible, although an alternative visitor experience is available. Assistance dogs are welcome, but parts of the working production environment can be warm, noisy and difficult underfoot. Visitors with individual access requirements or an assistance dog should contact the team before booking so that the most suitable experience and route can be discussed.
