Good Day Out offers small group outings with animals which allow you to get up close whilst learning about their welfare and also about the local area whilst enjoying stunning scenery in a quiet and stress-free way.
There are three different animal walks to choose from:
Dinky Donkey Walk with a pair of sweet little Miniature Mediterranean donkeys who carry a light picnic in their panniers as you walk along a ridge line with panoramic views. The walks are year round and most days subject to availability either 10am or 2pm – 2 hours. £35 ads / £25 ch or private own walk £120. Usually a max of 4 unless booking as a group together. Pre-booking required but late requests welcome.
Sheep Trekking, taking your own Jacobs sheep for a walk through a 200 acre organic hill farm, and stopping at a scenic barn for a picnic. The walk takes you along ancient drovers’ routes and across farmland. The walks are Saturdays 10am, Sundays 2pm and the holiday Wednesday 10am. 2 hours. £35 ads / £25 ch. Children under 12 share a sheep with an adult. Usually a max of 8 sheep per session – please enquire for group bookings for other days. Pre-booking required.
Piggy Walk with a Pig-Nic. Take four little Kune Kune pigs for a wander along a beautiful hidden valley then have a good spread of tea & cakes and learn all about the pigs and their handler’s life in this lovely area. Available on various dates through the week, usually with a 2pm start – 2 hours. £25 ads / £15 ch or private own walk from £125. Usually a max of 8 people per session. Pre-booking required.
And if you prefer a more serious experience, then you could do good work by being a Hedgehog Helper at a local rescue for a morning, where you care for the little guys and learn all about the daily work they do to help nurse these much-loved creatures back to health for re-release to the wild.
