October sees the return of crisp days and cold evenings, but that’s no excuse to hibernate. October is all about long leafy walks, pubs with fires and sunday lunches. So get out there and enjoy the Brecon Beacons this October with our pick of events happening across the National Park.

Crickhowell Literary Festival 20172

1st-8th Oct 2017

The Festival features something for everyone – there will be lots of talks – on books, poetry, art, sport and politics; and there will be readings, stories, interviews, debates, candle-lit literary suppers, creative writing workshops and wholesome walks. Star Gazing Event at the National Park Visitor Centre

Cardiff Astronomical Society will once again be hosting an evening of stargazing at the National Park Visitor Centre If skies are clear their telescopes will be focused on interesting phenomena in the night sky, or if cloudy there will be lectures indoors.

Price includes parking and soup and a roll to warm you up for the night. Please bring warm clothing. The event will run whatever the weather!

Brecon Beacons Heritage Day

Brecon Baroque Festival 2017

Our 12th Festival celebrates Vivaldi and explores the music of Venice. Five landmark concerts with Rachel Podger, Brecon Baroque, I Fagiolini, Ensemble Diderot and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama frame a long weekend which also includes a pop-up café - Caffe Florian - with live chamber music, Festival Evensong and Eucharist at Brecon Cathedral, a guided walk plus tour of Penpont House in the Usk Valley and our annual Baroque dance events.

Hocus Pocus Halloween Cinema Spooktacular at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales

Saturday 28th October 2017 @ The National Botanic Garden of Wales

A fantastic Halloween outdoor cinema event for all ages with a showing of the Disney classic HOCUS POCUS!

Plus Halloween fancy dress, fire poi, a BBQ, Bar, Toffee Apples, Popcorn, Halloween punches, spooky music and more.


PRIZES will be given out for the best fancy dress.

Event starts at 5pm, film starts at 6.30pm.

Tickets £12 Adults / £8 Under 16s / Under-2s Free
