Bwlch With Altitude is a popular, family friendly navigation challenge held annually in Llangorse & Bwlch since 2009. The challenge can be conducted either by foot or on your mountain bikes, and it is a team event (minimum 2; maximum 8 members per team). Whilst navigating the routes, your team will have a quiz sheet to fill in, digital checkpoints to collect, photographs to take, and marshals to say hello to! There are prizes galore… all kindly donated by local businesses. The challenge starts with check-in, safety briefing and refreshments at Bwlch Village Hall.

June 6 is the Garden’s celebration of those who give their time so generously for causes all over the county and Volunteer Co-ordinator Jane Down says it is going to be a fabulous event: “The Garden relies so heavily on volunteers but we are not alone – the county’s volunteer army is deployed in every walk of life and few aren’t touched by their unstinting and generous efforts.
“We will have plenty of our volunteer team members to shine a light on the great work they do here but it will also be an excellent opportunity for people to share their stories.”

Fancy a sensational summer cycling challenge?? The concept of “everesting” is simple. Choose a hill and ride up and down by the same route until you have clocked up 8,848 meters of ascent, i.e. the height of the world’s tallest mountain, Mt. Everest. Simple does not mean easy. For our chosen route, from Hay on Wye to Gospel Pass, you’re going to need to repeat the climb 16 times. It’s as much a psychological challenge as it is a physical endeavour. How will you motivate yourself to keep grinding the gears and turning the pedals to achieve your goal? Base Camp at Drover Cycles will be in operation throughout offering food, drink and mechanical support as well as a bike expo, family-friendly activities and BBQ open to all. Spectators and supporters welcome! This event is raising funds for Himalayan Quests Foundation. Team entries available. More here.
