Whats on in the Brecon Beacons this Weekend

By j.bell on 23/06/2016

There is so much going on this weekend in the Brecon Beacons. Try some local food and drink at the Dinefwr Food Festival, view artists work in their own homes and don't forget to visit a CADW site this Sunday, as they're free to celebrate Wales' success in the European 2016 Football Championship!

Take one historic parkland and mansion, add some fun cookery demonstrations and foodie entertainment all mixed in with a whole host of local food and drink producers and you have Dinefwr’s first ever Food Festival.

Newton House will be jam packed with stalls designed to tickle your tastebuds. We’ve chosen to support our local businesses as much as possible and there are lots of hands on workshops including foraging, cocktail making and chocolate making classes. We’re also providing bilingual cookery demonstrations and talks throughout the weekend.

The basement of Newton House will be dedicated to children’s activities that are centred around having fun in the kitchen, healthy eating and learning how to ‘Plant It Grow It Eat It’. The courtyard will be a hive of activity and a place to fill your bellies with delicious street food and local delicacies.

Cooking up a storm against the backdrop of Dinefwr’s designed landscape will be Wales Junior Chef of the Year, Ben Mitchell. Ben will be showcasing the culinary skills that helped him win the prestigious award earlier in the year and secured him a job under the guidance of Gareth Ward at Ynyshir Hall in Machynlleth; one of Wales’ top, Michelin star restaurants.

The Dinefwr Food Festival is open from 10am til 6pm, 25-26 June, 2016. Normal Admission applies.  More here
