Theatr Brycheiniog is a great place to enjoy live music and shows for all ages this August! There's a Family Festival, puppet making classes, lots of live music, with the highlight of the month being King Cetshwayo: The Musical by Jerry Pooe involving unique performances from the Zulu Royal Family and descendents of King Cetshwayo! Brecon Summer Family Festival: 12- 13th Aug

A jam packed weekend of family fun, with free performances on our outdoor stage, including live music from Metahari Acoustic and the

Uskelele’s and a special appearance from the cast of our pantomime 'Jack & The Beanstalk'.

There will also be street theatre, carnival games, face painting, and workshops including puppet making from Puppet Soup and a hip hop session with Dream Team! Main stage shows include a performance by South African Hip Hop Trio Dream Team who bring their spectacular stage show to Brecon on Saturday night to launch a season of South African activities.  Other main stage shows include a Sing-A-Long Frozen extravaganza where fancy dress is encouraged.

Food will be available from street vendors which include Caribbean food, the fantastic Trallong Eisteddfod Welshcakes & 'legendairy' Llanfaes Dairy ice cream!

12th- Troll Trouble

A workshop full of troll trivia and fun, suitable for children aged 4 – 7 years 

Explore the wonderful world of trolls and hear the stories that inspired the Gruffalo - the greatest troll of them all. Sing troll songs and follow troll trails, gathering magical woodland materials to create your very own troll and story.

This workshop can get messy as it takes place outdoors and involves clay and nature so we recommend your child brings a change of clothes and a pair of wellies! More here.

As part of our Family Festival we are thrilled to be screening Disney smash hit FROZEN in the auditorium, complete with on screen lyrics to help you sing along with Anna, Elsa and Olaf!

Come along, ‘let it go,’ and sing your lungs out on this epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa, the Snow Queen and put an end to her icy spell.

Don’t forget to dress up as your favourite character, whether that’s Elsa the snow queen, lovable Kristoff, Sven the reindeer or Olaf the coolest snowman ever!

23rd-25th-King Cetshwayo: The Musical by Jerry Pooe

The story tells of the Zulu’s defiance against the English and Welsh Regiments during the Anglo Zulu Wars, and the victories that re-inspired the pride of a nation; defeating guns with spears in a David and Goliath real life story. Told through multimedia, song, dance, dialogue and storytelling, the performances features performances from the Zulu Royal Family and descendents of King Cetshwayo.

With an opening by the High Commissioner of South Africa and a chance to meet the Royal Princes after the show.
