Join our Head of Science, Dr Natasha de Vere, for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Botanic Garden, including science labs, herbarium and plant nurseries.
Find out about the Garden’s work saving plants and pollinators throughout the world. Then, have a go yourself! Get your lab coats on, extract DNA from plants and use microscopes to view their hidden inner world. More here.
Make your own paper using garden plants. Using plants from the garden, we will explore the different papers that can be made, comparing leaf, stem and bast papers. We will cook some garden plants material, or you could bring some of your own material. You will learn how to make sheets of paper, and there will be a range of pulps to experiment with. You will take home any paper you make for your own art and craft projects, plus a course booklet. A range of papers and papermaking equipment will be available for you to purchase so you can continue experimenting at home.

Meet a Meerkat shows are at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm. There is an additional £3 charge per seat for the shows
By popular demand, the meerkats are back at the National Botanic Garden of Wales – along with a few of their friends.
On August 13th and 14th, the meerkats will return to the Carmarthenshire attraction along with a selection of snakes, lizards, a skunk, a cockatoo and much more.

Enjoy a guided tour of the Great Glasshouse. Explore the World under one glass roof. Visiting the Garden? Then why not enjoy a guided tour around the magnificent Great Glasshouse in the company of Derek Caldwell every Tuesday at 11:00am, 12:30pm and 2:00pm.
There are also guided tours held every Thursday in the company of Mike Dingley-Jones at 11:00am, 12:30pm and 2:00pm. It is the largest single-span great glasshouse in the world and houses the largest collection of Mediterranean plants in the Northern Hemisphere. Learn all about the exotic plants housed within the Glasshouse and explore its hidden twists and paths.
