Three Great Places to Watch the Solar Eclipse

By d.marsden on 16/03/2015

The sky will be a bit darker on 20 March around 8:30 am because of a solar eclipse, the first visible in the mainland UK since 2011. About 95% of the sun will be covered by the moon! Brecon Beacons happens to have some wonderful locations for viewing it. Here are some of our favourites:

Usk ReservoirThis location is easily accessible and has plenty of flat space that allows for the setup of telescopes. Once you're done viewing, settle in for a picnic with your family and friends as you look over the vast Usk landscapes.

Hay Bluff - This hill overlooks the Wye Valley and has spectacular views to the distant north-west.

3. Llangorse Lake Another highly accessible area, this beautiful site has a lot of space to set up telescopes and is near an outdoor pursuits centre if you'd like to do some activities during the remainder of your day.
