We are delighted that our Family Festival returns this August following the success of last year’s festival! Join us for a weekend of family entertainment which features face painting, free street theatre, and a selection of our favourite Live @ The Waterfront musicians.
Opening the weekend’s festivities on Friday night will be Northern Ruins, a young Welsh four piece cover band. They will play a varied set, ranging from classic rock to modern hits. They will be performing on the outside stage from 7.30pm.
The festival will begin on Saturday at 10.30am, with Tanya Walker and her Alive & Kicking Choir taking to the stage first. They will be followed by Boudicca, a mobile street theatre piece built around wheelchairs. Boudicca will be rampaging through the country aboard a stunning Chariot led by a galloping mechanical horse, accompanied by a raucous soundtrack. On board will be an arsenal of comedy props and weapons, to equip her followers and mete out her ‘justice’. Boudicca will roam again at 2.00pm.
Children’s author Sarah Kilbride will run a workshop for ages 5+ on Whales, Sails and Mermaids’ Tales. Pirates, mermaids and sea monsters are all welcome to hear myths and legends from the seven seas and cast their own nets out into the deep to discover inspiration for their very own stories.
Saturday’s Live @ The Waterfront musical offerings will include Matthew Frederick at 12.30pm, The Nylon & Steel Trio at 4.30pm and James Sarson at 6.00pm. Music will then move inside to the auditorium at 8.30pm where local band the Eezy Geezers will close the festival.
On Sunday it is your time to shine, have fun, sing loud and 'Come Alive' in our very special sing-along screening of The Greatest Showman at 10.30am. Dressing up is not compulsory but is encouraged! At 12.00pm Kapow Dance Theatre Company bring you Grow, a lively and colourful dance show based on flowers, and rounding off the day will be two musical sets from Kodiak Avenue at 1.00pm and former The Voice contestant Ragsy, at 2.30pm
There will be lots of tasty food on offer over the weekend, with the Trallong Eisteddfod welshcake ladies joining us to serve the best welshcakes in Brecon, a range of delicious flavours from Llanfaes Dairy ice cream and we will be running an outdoor bar and BBQ.
