The event will take place Saturday 27th to Sunday 28th June 2015 at Brecon`s Regimental Museum.

The Diehards are joining us to re-create an army camp from the 1879 Zulu War. Authentic uniforms, equipment and weapons will be used to demonstrate the life of a soldier during this period. Visitors are going to be able to see original examples of the iconic Martini Henry rifle being fired, as well as participating in talks on the weapons used by Zulu Warriors. All are welcome, but there will be a special opportunity for children to join Queen Victoria`s army!

The Diehard`s camp is to be based on Brecon Rugby Club`s main pitch for the weekend and all events are free. Some of the demonstrations will also take place at the Museum, as the locations are only a few minutes` walk from each other. Events are scheduled to begin at 11am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and continue at regular intervals throughout the day.

Richard Davies, Curator of the Museum, said “We are delighted that The Diehard Company is coming to Brecon for what is going to be an exciting and entertaining weekend. Saturday 27th June is Armed Forces Day, and this event will be a great way for everyone to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.”

Tim Rose, of The Diehards commented “Brecon’s connections with the Zulu War are known across the world, so we are looking forward to showing the public what life would really have been like for a soldier at this time.”
