The Great Brecknock Pageant promises to be an epic commemoration of the battle of Agincourt.

Leading the procession through the streets of Brecon on Saturday 20 June will be a large contingent of Welsh archers and men at arms accompanied by ladies of the manor who will be re-enacting the start of the brave men's journey from Brecon to the battlefield of Agincourt in northern France in June 1415. A total of 146 foot archers, 13 mounted archers and 10 men at arms responded to the Call for Arms from the Brecon area.

In 2015, the 600th anniversary of the famous battle, community groups are commemorating the significant part the archers played in the battle by organising a full programme of events from June through to October.

Local people of all ages will be dressed in costume showing their respects to those brave men who helped Henry V successfully win the battle. They will depart Wellington Statue at 1.30pm and complete the Parade at Brecon Cathedral at 2.30pm. The procession is just one part of a full day's programme.

Children’s arts workshop to design a shield, try out the medieval games from the 15th century and visit the Medieval Encampment. Age 3-11 years.

• Medieval Farmers Market, High St, Brecon 9.30am-4pm

Visit the stalls, meet the sellers and street entertainers of the Brecon Beacons

• The Great Brecknock Pageant Parade 00-2.15pm Wellington Statue, Brecon town centre to Brecon Cathedral

Join the merry crowds on the Bulwark as they watch the procession of archers, men-at-arms and Lords of Brecon gather. The brave troops represented by local school children, community groups will answer the call and march out of the town and up to the Cathedral.

• Agincourt 600 Wales Exhibition, Theatr Brycheiniog

The exhibition tells the local story and how the archers played their part in the famous battle.

• Discover if you were descended from the brave archers 10.00am at St Mary’s Church and 3.00pm pm at the Heritage Centre, Brecon Cathedral

Dr Grierson of Sheffield University describe how genetics research can help historians pinpoint today's descendants of 1415. Contribute your DNA by giving a simple cheek swab sample to the Brecknock DNA Research Study.

Follow the fluttering banners and meet the bowmen about to depart for Agincourt! Try your hand with a bow, sample the pottage, tuck in to hog roast and test your aim at the stocks!
