If you love country shows, the Brecon Beacons are the place to visit. We have an action packed summer of shows happening each weekend from July – September. Here are all the dates for the Country Shows.
Founded in 1988 in the heart of the Black Mountains, Cwmdu Show is a local village show with fantastic support and a great atmosphere, all brought together with the help and enthusiasm from our local families. With children's games and sports, vintage displays, dog shows, sheep classes, horse and pony qualifiers, its a family day out for all ages.
The Royal Welsh Show takes place the third week in July each year. The Show showcases the cream of Welsh livestock and the high quality food and drink produced in Wales, it encompasses the wider spectrum of farming and rural life and successfully bridges the gap between town and country.
It provides something to interest everyone through its kaleidoscopic range of activities including forestry, horticulture, crafts, countryside sports, Sports Village and a 12 hour programme of exciting entertainment that continues throughout each of the four days of the event. Find out more here.
The Llanthony Valley and District Show has one of the best sites of all local shows, deep in the Llanthony Valley near Llanthony Abbey, surrounded by the Black Mountains of Monmouthshire. It sits at the heart of a thriving farming community, and it’s longstanding popularity is driven by the full support of the local community.
Horse judging starts at 9am with show jumping at 9.30am. All entries to be in the produce tent by 10.30am and all sheep and cattle to be penned by 11am. Dog show entries taken from 12pm with judging to begin at 1pm. Find out more here.
The Brecon County Show is held annually on the 1st Saturday in August at The Showground, Watton Villa, Brecon. Each year the show has 400 horse entries, 100 cattle entries and over 400 sheep entries. The show also hosts a major shearing competition, a poultry show, classes for goats, a novelty and exemption dog show and a dog agility competition. The Show attracts over 10,000 people to the show and with over 100 trade stands and main ring attractions there is plenty of entertainment on offer for them. Full information here.
The show offers something for everyone, with classes for cattle, sheep, horses and pigs; the ever popular dog show; and fabulous entries in the produce and cookery tents. The show field certainly comes to life in the evening, with one of the best attended dances in the county, which seems to go from strength to strength each year. The show offers a real family day out, whether you want to compete, or merely take a look at the animals, watch the entertainment or browse the stalls; there really is something for everyone. 25th August Monmouthshire Show The Monmouthshire Show is the largest one-day agricultural show in Wales, taking place annually on the last Thursday in August. Each year over 20,000 visitors enjoy a taste of farming and the countryside at our stunning showground on the banks of the River Wye in Monmouth.

27th -29th August Brecon Beacons Summer Fayre Family fun, local food, craft and artwork. If you’re a fan of food, music, or the arts, the National Park Visitor Centre Libanus, near Brecon is the only place to be this August Bank Holiday weekend for the Tenth annual Brecon Beacons Summer Fayre.

10th September Usk Show On the second Saturday in September, every year since 1844, Usk Farmers’ Club have held the Usk Show to celebrate the very best of Monmouthshire farming and rural life. There is a thriving Horse show and Show Jumping competitions, as well as Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Horticulture, Homecrafts, a Companion Dog Show, Steam Corner and Vintage Tractors. Llandovery Sheep Festival celebrates droving, sheep farming & the wool industry. All weekend the town of Llandovery will be celebrating its farming routes and connection to the drovers trails of old.Highlights of the weekend will include the sheep dog trials, sheep shearing demonstrations.
