Summer in the Brecon Beacons!

By j.bell on 19/07/2016

The Brecon Beacons is a glorious place to be in the summer. Here our are top picks of the best things to do and places to keep cool!

Llangorse Lake Brecon beaconsScenery

Forget the sting of chlorine from crowded swimming pools and instead enjoy the fresh water of the River Usk and its amazing spots for wild swimming.

Grab some delicious ingredients to put together your perfect picnic and choose from one of our top spots, or head to one of our cool cafes for a bite to eat in the shade.

Cool off by heading down to Llangorse Lake, try a pedalo or even just grab an ice-cream from one of our favourite ice-cream parlours and watch the ducks float by.

..or why not take a stroll along Brecon Promenade, where you can hire a pedalo, or have food in their cafe! They even have ice cream specially made for dogs!

Making a splash at Talybont waterfalls is a summer must, or a relaxing cycle along the canal. End the evening at one of the great beer gardens for a refreshing pint while watching the sunset.

Crannog & Boardwalk (Llangorse)

If you’re a keen camper, pitch up your tent and forget your worries at one of our top campsites, waking up to the sounds of birds singing and sheep bleating. Have your breakfast with the astounding mountains as your backdrop then spend the day fruit picking at Aberbran Fawr Farm campsite, a perfect activity to pass the hours in the sunshine and great for a mid-morning snack. Priory Mill Farm is another great choice for camping, actually set on the river so you can start the day with a morning swim in beautiful, unspoilt grounds.

At Penpont, wake up to the beautiful scent of the rose garden with the River Usk as your neighbour.

For the best accommodation, Filly Farmhouse has its very own lake just for you, or Corner House Cottage is only a few minutes walk down the lane to the River Wye.
