Today's personal view a great insight to the Brecon Beacons from Adriaan Koppens, who is the owner of Upper House Farm, Craswall. Upper House Farm has three wonderful properties on their books in the eastern part of the Brecon Beacons.
1. Where I live could be described in one word as: "Spectacular, unspoilt and so stylish."
2. I would take a first-timer to the Brecon Beacons to: "Patrishow, an amazing church in an amazing location and Llanthony Priory for its evocative atmosphere (walking distance from Upper House Farm)"
3. My favourite restaurant is: "The Angel in Abergavenny because it consistency, renewal of the menus, the kindness and the elegance of the staff are remarkable. We also love their afternoon tea which is ten times better than Fortnum and Mason for a fraction of the price"
4. My favourite event in the Brecon Beacons is: "The Hay Festival because we host prize winners, publishers, and Upper House Farm becomes a buzzing literature place"
5. My favourite pub is: "The Bull’s Head, Craswall because the food is lovely, the character of the place is unequalled, the owners are wonderful and it has been voted 3rd country pub in the UK by the Independent. Besides, it is a gorgeous 30 minute walk on the drover’s road from us "
6. I would have my picture taken: "Outside with the 18th century stone farm as the background, the topiary gardens at my feet, because it is so beautifully situated in this wide, open landscape against the backdrop of Black Hill and overlooking the rolling landscape of Herefordshire"
7. My favourite view of the Brecon Beacons: "Is from the top of Black Hill, overlooking the whole of Offa’s Dyke, and Haybluff, to admire the sunsets"
8. You can buy great gifts at: "FORTYSIX, the new contemporary lifestyle shop in Abergavenny"
9. If you want to splurge I would visit: "Restaurant The Walnut Tree, between Skenfrith and Abergavenny"
10. For the best night out, I would go to: "The Booth Bookshop Cinema to see a film and for dinner at the Black Lion both in Hay-on-Wye ,because success is guaranteed"
11. The most unusual thing about where I live is: "The landscape because it is so pure and unspoilt. It is also to drink our own Holywell spring water, directly from the estate. It is so refreshing and delicious.:
12. I would describe the people of the Brecon Beacons: "As authentic."
13. The best way to see the Brecon Beacons is: "On a horse or by mountain bike"
14. The best season to travel to the Brecon Beacons is: "All year round because each of our season has a truly unique charm."
