A pretty Georgian town with a High Street full of unique independent shops, Crickhowell is an ideal base for many to sample all the Brecon Beacons has to offer. There is a wide selection of places to eat from pubs, cafes, restaurants and a bistro, A well-known feature of Crickhowell is the bridge spanning the River Usk, built in 1706.
Crickhowell Castle was built by the Normans. It is thought that it begun life as a motte and bailey castle with timber buildings in the 12th century, then in 1272 it was rebuilt in stone by Sir Grimbald Pauncefote. It is a prominent feature of the small market town of Crickhowell. Once a mighty stronghold, it had commanding views along the Usk Valley.

Crickhowell Walking Festival-the ever popular Crickhowell walking festival is taking place in 2017 from the 25th February until the 5th of March 2017. With 9 days of guided walks and events in and around Crickhowell and the Black Mountains. Find our more here.
Green Man Festival -takes place every year in the shadow of the Black Mountains, on the edge of Crickhowell, in the Glanusk Estate. In 2017 it will be held on the 17-20th August and with it being the festivals 15th Anniversary it will be the best one yet! Info here
