There’s a fabulous Food Fair this weekend (September 19-20) at the National Botanic Garden of Wales with the Garden’s home-produced meat taking pride of place on the menu of mouth-watering offers.
There will be Welsh Black beef, fresh lamb and mutton for sale from the Botanic Garden stall, all of which has been reared on the species rich pastures of Waun Las National Nature Reserve.
The food fair takes place in the stunning surrounds of Lord Foster’s Great Glasshouse – so shopping in the dry is guaranteed!
Other tasty treats to look out for include: the vegetarian delights of Contempo Catering; handmade artisan bread from Swansea’s Little Valley Bakery; luxury milkshakes from Mountain View Ice Cream; Preseli Coffee; Morgan’s Brew Tea; preserves, chutneys and marmalades by Sarah Cooks, of Whitland; chocolate delights from Coco Bean; cider and surprises from Toloja Orchards; and more delicious meat from the rare breed goats and old spot pigs down on Rhosyn Farm. The Botanic Garden’s farmer, Huw Jones said: “We’re really looking forward to showcasing the Garden-reared produce and we will have the barbecue going so that our visitors can try our burgers and sausages as well as buy a Sunday roast, some steaks, mutton chops, mince . . . whatever, they want, really.”
The Botanic Garden’s formally-planted visitor attraction is just a small part of its 220 hectare site; by far the largest area is the working farm, which includes the national nature reserve.
The Garden is open every day from 10am to 6pm with last entry at 5pm.
Admission to the Garden is £9.75 (including Gift Aid) for adults and £4.95 for children over five. Entry is FREE for Garden members and parking is free for all.
