There are plenty of special things to do, places to visit and lovely gifts to buy your Mother, in the Brecon Beacons this Mothers Day on the 26th of March.

1. Mothers Day Botanical Gin Workshop

Let's face it. Your Mum deserves to be spoiled rotten all year round. But this perfect Mother's Day treat will make her feel very special indeed....a Botanical Gin Workshop, in which she'll find out how to make her own unique signature blend of her favourite tipple!

Taking place at Talybont Village Hall between 3pm and 5pm on Sunday 26th March, here's what to expect....

  • Weather permitting, a short forage to identify wild and cultivated botanicals. (Don’t worry - I’ve got a back-up plan in case of rain!)
  • Lots of info about the weird and wonderful history of gin....
  • A stash of rare and exotic spices and other ingredients to play with...
  • A generous 300ml jar your unique and delicious blend to take home...

AND....... a cocktail (or two) plus nibbles! Also, guess what...non-Mums and even chaps are very welcome too!

3. Pamper treat at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales

There’s a treat in store for mum on Sunday March 26 with FREE entry to a special ‘pamper day’ at the National Botanic Garden of Wales. There is an impressive line-up of beauticians, make-up experts and local food and drink producers offering a unnamed (18)tempting range of tasters including a free glass of elderflower champagne, facials, skin care advice, manicures, pedicures – and all free of charge for mam!

Every mum is also promised tasty titbits and sumptuous samples from a range of stallholders – from Welsh cakes, shortbread biscuits, Carmarthenshire cheese and sheep soap, as part of their Mothers’ Day visit.

Organiser Steffan John said: “As well as free entry on the day to this gorgeous Garden, mums are in for a real treat with all sorts of people offering all kinds of goodies including a free glass of champagne!” “We also have some lovely music to suit all tastes, including our favourite harpist Shelley Fairplay, two ladies’ choirs and folk duo Fiddlebox. In addition, there’s fun and games and magic and mystery with conjurer Luke Jugglestruck dropping by, an opportunity to have a go at archery and special flying displays by Pembrokeshire Falconry.” Steffan added: “So, why not treat mam or mam-gu to a great day out including lunch in our award-winning Seasons restaurant – it’s going to be a brilliant day and, let’s face it, it’s the least you can do!”

* The National Botanic Garden is open from 10am until 4.30pm, with last entry at 3.30pm. Admission to the Garden is £9.75 (including Gift Aid donation) but FREE to all mums on Sunday March 26. 4. Mum's go free at Cantref Adventure Farm

Mums can come into Cantref Adventure Farm freMother's Daye of charge when accompanied by a paying customer on Sunday 26th of March as a special Mother's Day Gift. There's lots of cute baby lambs to see along with shows every half an hour and loads of indoor and outdoor play to keep the kids entertained.

5. Mothers Day Sunday Lunch at Caer Beris Manor

Enjoy the finest locally produced Sunday Lunch at the Award winning restaurant at Caer Beris Manor, with a complimentary glass of prosecco for every mother this mothers day!
All guests are more than welcome to take a wander in the grounds, with the tree trail guiding you around.
