With temperatures in the Brecon Beacons expected to stay in the twenties, it’s the perfect weather for some fun activities and events going on throughout the park for bank holiday weekend.  Bank holiday weekends in the national park are never dull affairs, with festivals, events and activities going on throughout the park.  So here are our top tips for bank holiday in the Brecon Beacons...

Two Talgarth Festivals: Walking and the Celebration of the Black Mountains

The Talgarth Festival is the celebration of the Black Mountains and Welsh countryside! It’s a lovely, friendly, family festival in a beautiful setting and a great way to spend the Bank Holiday Weekend.  And the best thing about it is pretty much everything is FREE!!!

Here’s a chance to discover a real taste Talgarth and experience the wonderful scenery on the town’s doorstep, enjoy selection of walks with a heavy emphasis on local food and history.

The walks include a history walk around the town, foraging walks with hedgerow guru, Adele Nozedar, the highly popular from the Mill to the Mountain walk which finishes with a scrumptious cream tea at The Bakers' Table and a very special walk entitled: A Moveable Feast which will be an easy, relaxed ramble between homes where delicious homemade refreshments will be served.  There’s loads to choose from!

Starting at 2:00 pm by Talybont-on-Usk village hall, LD3 7YQ for a horticulture and craft show along with fancy dress and children’s races, refreshments and side stalls.

If you’re a food, music, or arts fan head to the National Park Visitor Centre Libanus activtfor the ninth annual Brecon Beacons Summer Fayre.  This is a celebration of Welsh food, drink, arts & crafts from 24th to 26th August.  There are over 70 stands to explore, children’s activities and live entertainment set to spill on to the front lawn and surrounding fields.

The selection of local produce on offer at this year’s Summer Fayre includes organic meats, dressings, fresh fruit and vegetables, jams, chutneys, smoked foods, honey, bread, ciders, beers and wines, cheeses, biscuits cakes, chocolates, ice creams and more.  FREE ENTRY

Bwlch with altitude  Saturday 24 August 2013 at 11:00 - 16:00
Enter a team of up to 4 people to walk around Llangorse Lake covering 12 miles of stunning scenery. Along the route particpants will find answers to the photographic quiz which you will be out on registration.

The walk starts  at the Beacons Backpackers, Bwlch, 11am or the Lakeside shop, in Llangorse Lake.  On returning to your starting point at either Bwlch or Llangorse food will be waiting for you. For more information the route can be found on: http://www.aroundllangorselake.co.uk

For the Family: Cantref Wild West Bank Holiday Weekend

Head to Cantref Adventure Farm this Bank Holiday for “Wild West Weekend Bonanza” on the 24th, 25th & 26th August at Cantref Adventure Farm.
