15th July-Opening Celebration Concert.
It will all be kicking off tomorrow with the Opening Celebration Concert. The 2017 Festival will open with a very special event to mark the choir’s 40th anniversary. Included in their programme will be the world premiere of ‘Te Deum’, by leading Welsh composer, Eric Jones, commissioned by the choir for the occasion and performed in the presence of the composer.

As part of the continuing commemoration of the sacrifices of World War 1, the choir which won the National Choir of the Year competition in 2014 will bring the Festival to a close with the first performance of the completed version of its conductor’s new work. Its 15 movements feature settings of words by Hedd Wyn, Ann Franck and Nelson Mandela. Intertwined with some of Wales’s best-loved hymns and excerpts from the traditional Latin Requiem Mass.
