Live Music in Brecon: What’s On This Winter, Spring & Early Summer

By j.bell on 18/01/2026

There’s something quietly special about live music in Brecon. The venues are small enough to feel personal, the audiences attentive, and the performances often feel shared rather than staged. Over the coming months, a strong programme of folk, blues, roots and Americana brings live music to the heart of the town, with events presented by Mid Wales R&B Cluband Brecon Folk & More Club, both members of Brecon Beacons Tourism.

From seated church concerts and intimate arts venues to relaxed pub nights, these gigs showcase touring artists while celebrating Brecon’s distinctive live music spaces.

Coming up this winter

Raphael Callaghan – Kensington Baptist Church, Brecon

Saturday 24 January 2026

This joint Mid Wales R&B Club and Brecon Folk & More Club presentation brings Raphael Callaghan to the atmospheric setting of Kensington Baptist Church. Known for blending blues, groove and storytelling, Callaghan’s music suits a seated, close-listening space particularly well.

The evening also features special guests Hermione Wild & The Sweet Bones, making this a rich and varied night for fans of roots and Americana.

Stompin’ Dave Electric Duo – Brecon Tap

Thursday 5 February 2026 – free entry

A change of pace and setting, this free-entry night at Brecon Tap offers electric blues in a relaxed pub atmosphere. Stompin’ Dave Electric Duo bring a lively, informal feel — ideal for a mid-week evening out and a reminder that live music in Brecon isn’t limited to ticketed concerts.

Steve Ferbrache – The Muse, Brecon

Sunday 8 February 2026

Acclaimed songwriter and guitarist Steve Ferbrache brings his Americana-influenced sound to The Muse, joined by special guests Don’t Tell Johnny. Expect strong songwriting, skilled musicianship and an intimate atmosphere in one of Brecon’s most distinctive small venues.

Spring highlight – April

Liz Jones & Broken Windows – The Muse, Brecon

Friday 18 April 2026

After a hugely successful night at The Muse in September 2025, Liz Jones & Broken Windows return to Brecon this spring with Liz’s full band, bringing their distinctive blend of roots, blues and psychedelia back to the home of the Mid Wales R&B Club.

Drawing on the free-spirited energy of 1960s rock, Liz Jones & Broken Windows are known for live performances that feel loose, expressive and joyfully uncontained. Their sound has been compared to Little Feat, The Faces and Fleetwood Mac — not because they fit neatly into any one genre, but because of the shared sense of groove, musicianship and on-stage chemistry.

This six-piece band brings together some of Scotland’s finest players, allowing songs to unfold naturally rather than stick to formula. Classic Rock Magazine has praised the group’s willingness to roam beyond expectation, while audiences often highlight the warmth, energy and sense of connection created during their shows.

The evening also features special guests Disque Bleu, returning after supporting Liz and Suzy on their previous Brecon appearance. Their laid-back mix of blues, country and genre-blending influences makes them a fitting addition to the night.

For those who missed the September show — or simply want to experience it again with the full band — this April date promises another memorable live music evening at The Muse.

Early summer highlight – June

Jack J Hutchinson – Acoustic at The Muse, Brecon

Saturday 6 June 2026

The Mid Wales R&B Club presents the return of Jack J Hutchinson to The Muse in Brecon for a special intimate acoustic performance — and notably, the only Wales date in his summer 2026 run.

These stripped-back shows focus on the blues and roots side of Hutchinson’s songwriting and playing, featuring new material written especially for this short acoustic tour alongside carefully chosen covers of artists who have influenced his sound. It’s a rare opportunity to hear the songs up close, in a setting that suits them perfectly.

The Brecon date follows a standout year for Hutchinson, with his latest album Battle Scars breaking into the Official Blues Chart Top 5 and earning high praise from Classic Rock, who described the release as “genuinely spiritual”. In recent years he has completed headline tours across Europe, the US and Brazil, supported acts including FM and King King, and appeared at festivals alongside artists such as Chris Robinson and Jeff Beck.

Currently recording his fifth studio album at Momentum Studios in Plymouth, Hutchinson will be touring throughout 2026 in support of the new release — making this Brecon show a particularly timely moment in the live music calendar. A special guest act for the evening will be announced closer to the date.

Why live music in Brecon matters

Brecon’s mix of historic buildings, arts venues and welcoming pubs creates a live music scene that feels personal, unhurried and rooted in place. These gigs support touring artists, strengthen the town’s cultural life and reinforce Brecon’s reputation as a place where live music is part of everyday experience, not just a one-off occasion.

Whether you’re visiting the area or live locally, these nights offer a chance to enjoy great music in spaces that genuinely suit it.
